Alterations and Additions. National Schools, Atherton
ATHERTON CHURCH SCHOOLS - The Church schools at Atherton are to be re-opened to-day after extensive additions and alterations. The old schools were dark and inconveniently arranged They have been re-roofed and repaired, and fresh windows have been put in. and the plan remodelled according to departmental requirements with six class rooms leading out of a central hall. Joined on to the old building, and under the supervision of the same headmaster, a new school for the senior standards has been built, with a central hall surrounded five class rooms. The school provides accommodation for 620 children. Mr. Isaac Taylor, of Manchester, the architect, and Mr. John Dickinson, Bolton, the contractor. [Manchester Courier 10 February 1904 page 9]
