Altrincham Higher Elementary School, Queen’s Road, Hale
The school is intended to form a connecting link between elementary and secondary schools. The buildings have been designed to accommodate 250 scholars. There are six classrooms, a drawing room, a laboratory for physical and chemical work, and a cookery room. In a detached block in the boys’ playground there is also a manual instruction room. An assembly rom 51 feet long and half as wide controls the whole of the classrooms. The buildings are not yet completed and eventually accommodation will be furnished for 350 pupils. Domestic economy is to be practically taught at the school and special buildings are provided for the purpose with an upper floor set out as a sitting room, bedrooms and bathroom. By this arrangement the girls will be taught the whole routine of the cleaning and other work of a household. On the north side of the school playing fields have been laid out.
