Bowes Park Congregational church began life as a hall and schoolrooms, built at the corner of Arcadian Gardens and Wood Green High Road. The datestone records “This school was erected to the Glory of God 20 July 1901” and the building was registered in 1902. In 1909 work began on a large red-brick church with pale terra cotta dressings on an adjoining site, completed in 1912. After the congregation had united with that of St. James's Presbyterian church in 1950, the premises became those of the United Church of St. James-at-Bowes. It is now the New Testament Church of God Cathedral of Praise.
