The design submitted by Mr H J Paull of Manchester and London (Paull and Bickerdike) in a limited competition for this church has been selected by the committee for execution. The site adjoins the present church which was erected 12 years ago; and the two buildings will be connected by an open arcade. The new church is to accommodate 1200 adults and the present building is to be converted to Sunday Schools. The style is English Gothic of the Geometrical period. [Builder 10 May 1873 Page 371]
