New Church consecrated 1 November 1910
Encouraged by the grant of £2,500 from the Bishop of Manchester's Commission and, by gifts of £200 from Mr. W. H. Johnson and £100 from Sir W. H. Houldsworth, as well as by the efforts which are being made parochially the Committee of the St. Luke's Building Fund have commenced the erection of the new church, which is being built upon a site presented by the Bishop's Commission in Dean Lane, Moston. The plans have been prepared by Mr. E. Lingen Barker of Manchester. and the contract for its erection has been let to Messrs. W. Thorpe and Son for the sum of £3,718, not including tower and spire, which would cost another £850. [Manchester Guardian 5 November 1908 page 4]
