CHURCH, NORRIS BANK, NEAR STOCKPORT - The new parish church of St. Martin, Norris Bank, near Stockport, was consecrated on the 18th inst. by the Lord Bishop of Manchester. The church consists at present of large chancel, chapel, organ chamber, vestries, and three bays of the nave, and aisle, leaving three bays to be erected at some future time. The present accommodation is for 420, but it is estimated that eventually there will be sittings for 700. The cost of the building, which is built of local bricks, with terra-cotta dressings, is put down at £10 a sitting. The pulpit is of carved oak. The architect was Mr. R. B. Preston. The roofs are open timbered and boarded. [Builder 27 April 1901 Page 407]
