At Weaste, on the Manchester Ship Canal, new cold‑air stores, which have been erected by the Colonial Consignment and Distributing Company Limited, at a cost of £52,000, were opened on Friday. The machinery for refrigerating and for the generation of steam and electric light is duplicated in each instance, and there are two electric lifts. The new stores, which occupy an area of 3,000 square yards, have been built by Messrs Southern and Sons, from the designs of Mr Charles Heathcote, architect, of Manchester.
