COLNE PUBLIC OFFICES - The new building has been erected for the Colne and Marsden Local Board and is to be opened for public use tomorrow. It stands on high ground and the tower is a conspicuous object in the neighbourhood. It is built of Yorkshire stone facings backed with brickwork. The Board Room is finished in oak with a dado 4 feet 6 inches high and chimneypieces with framed and carved overmantles. In the upper arched portions of the windows are leaded lights with coats of arms and subjects illustrative of the trades of the town of Colne. The floor is of pitch pine boards in narrow widths. The staircase is of oak and the entrance porch has a high dado and screen of oak. The clock and bells have been supplied by Messrs Potts & Son of Leeds, and Mr Seward of Lancaster has carried out the heating arrangements. Local contractors have carried out the several departments of the work, under the superintendence of Mr J Bowers, clerk of works. The original plans were made by Mr Mallinson, surveyor to the board, but the work has been finished above ground floor level by Messrs J W and R F Beaumont, architects of Manchester.

TOWN HALL, COLNE, LANCASHIRE - On the 13th inst. the new Town Hall at Colne was opened by Mr. Samuel Callow. Chairman of the Colne Local Board. The new Town Hall is built of Yorkshire stone facings, backed with brickwork. The assembly-room is finished in oak. with open timbered roof. In the spandrels of the windows are leaded lights, with coats-of-arms and subjects illustrative of the trades of Colne. The floor is of pitch-pine boards, narrow widths. The staircase is of oak, and the entrance porch has a high dado as screen of oak. The clock and bells have been supplied by Messrs. Potts and Sons, of Leeds; and Mr. Seward, of Lancaster, has carried out the heating arrangements. The contractors for the new building have been—stone and brickwork, Messrs Hawley, Colne; joinering, Messrs. Riddiough and Co., Colne; plumbing, Mr. Binns, Colne; plastering, Mr. M. Haworth, Colne; slating, Messrs Thornton Bros., OtIey; painting. Messrs. Berry Duckworth, Colne. The original plans for the building, which has cost about £10,000, exclusive of the site, were made by Mr. Mallinson, Surveyor to the Board, but the work has been finished above the ground floor level by Messrs.
