The building will be of brick, with stone facings and will accommodate upwards of 600 hearers. The school which will be on the ground floor will afford room for 450 scholars. The Lancashire Congregational Chapel Building Society has made a grant of £750 towards the cost, which will be over £2,300 [Bolton Evening News 23 September 1869 page 3]

On Saturday afternoon the corner stone of the new Congregational Church was laid at Tyldesley by Henry Lee Esq of Sedgley Park, Prestwich. [Bolton Evening News 15 November 1869 page 3]

TYLDESLEY - A new Congregational Church in High Street Tyldesley was opened on Wednesday week. The church is of brick with polished stone dressings and is Gothic in style. Sittings are provided for 550 persons. Beneath the church are schools for 400 children. Mr Atherton of Bolton is the architect. The entire cost is about £2,200.
