NEW CHAPEL, FOR RHOS-ON-SEA. The movement for the provision of a new English Congregational Church and schools for Rhos-on-Sea., Colwyn Bay, has now taken definite form. A fine site, situated in the centre of this resort, has been presented by Mr William Horton, the owner of the Rhos estate, who is a Churchman. A number of architects were invited to submit designs, and these have been considered by a committee, of which the Rev. T. Lloyd is the chairman, and by Mr John B. Gass, of Bolton, acting as assessor. Messrs Porter and Elcock, of Colwyn Bay, were awarded the first premium, and have been instructed to proceed with the working drawings of the first of the, scheme, which is to be proceeded with immediately, Mr Arthur Hewitt, of Llandudno, received the second premium. The assessor stated in his report that all the designs submitted were of high quality. The drawings are, to be exhibited this week. [Llandudno Advertiser 22 May 1909 page 5]

RHOS-ON-SEA. THE CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH - At a meeting last week of the Rhos-on-Sea Congregation Church Committee tenders were opened for the building or the proposed new schoolroom-chapel, with classrooms and caretaker's house, on the site presented by Mr. William Horton at the corner of Colwyn, and Tramway Avenues, facing the promenade. There is ample space also. for a large chapel to be erected at some future date. The lowest tender, £I,292, sent in by Mr. Richard Williams, Rhois-on-Sea, was accepted: and it is hoped that the new edifice will be ready for occupation by the new year. Messrs.
