In 1825 Clark Rampling presented the Trustees with unsolicited designs for alteration and extension to the Manchester Royal Infirmary. Richard Lane's comments are unrecorded

That the thanks of the Trustees be given to Mr C Rampling for having gratuitously presented a plan for altering and enlarging the buildings, for which, though they have not adopted them, the Trustees feel equally obliged.
