HOUSE AT EDGBASTON, BIRMINGHAM - This detached house, which stands in the Holly Road, has been arranged to suit the special wishes of Mr. Walter Reid, the proprietor, and planned and built with every consideration for economy. The two ground-floor sitting-rooms are arranged to overlook the garden, whilst the whole of kitchen department is placed at the front of the house, the kitchen and scullery being closed to the view of the public by stained glass in the windows. There is an especial arrangement for cycles in the basement, with a cemented incline approach, the doors being arranged so as to secure the purposes of a comfortable interior as well as a communication throughout the house. The interior is fitted with pitch pine, and the walls are tinted in light approved tints. All elaboration of detail has been avoided both inside and outside. The house has been built by Mr. James R. Turner, contractor of Edgbaston, from the designs and under the superintendence of Mr. T. Locke Worthington, ARIBA, 23, Queen Anne's Gate, Westminster, S.W.
