GOLF-HOUSE, DIDSBURY – The plan which accompanies the view of this building from the designs of Mr G H Willoughby FRIBA of Manchester, shows the arrangements which are very complete in their provisions, with a club-room for ladies and gentlemen, a committee room, and central tea-room, as well as kitchen with offices. Large dressing and locker rooms are arranged. Along the front is a glazed verandah, two entrances to the club being located one at either end of the premises. The clubhouse is placed upon a raised terrace. [Building News 24 June 1910].

Didsbury Golf Club was founded as a nine-hole course on land near Didsbury railway station in 1891. In 1902 the original nine-hole course was moved to Northenden, this new course to the designs of George Lowe of St Anne’s. This was expanded to 18 holes in 1921 by C A MacKenzie. The clubhouse survives although surrounded by later extensions on three sides.
