The memorial is built of best white Wakeham Portland stone. The paving is of green slate with unpolished grey granite curve. The total height of the column is 28 feet from the ground level, the shaft being built up of three stones, each 7 feet high. There are no names on the memorial, the names of the fallen being on a special Roll of Honour in the Town Hall. The architect is J Henry Sellers of 78 King Street Manchester and Mr David Holland of Droylesden is the mason. [Builder 9 September 1921 Page 316].
