Eagle’s Café, High Street, Bangor
A new company has been formed in Bangor under the title of the Bangor Temperance Tavern Company, Limited, with the object of taking over public houses whose licences are not renewed by the justices and converting them into cafes. The first one, which is to be opened to-day, is called the Eagle's Cafe, and is situated in the lower part of High Street. The premises have been thoroughly renovated and fitted up with all the modern requirements of a cafe from plans prepared by Mr Harold Hughes, architect. The ground floor of the premises has been converted into one large refreshment room with the usual accessories of a cafe. The upper floor is devoted to private tea and smoke rooms. The company is composed of some of the principal members of the temperance party in Bangor, Mr T. J. Williams, St. Paul's school, being chairman of directors, and Mr David Owen, solicitor, secretary pro-tem. [The North Wales Chronicle and Advertiser for the Principality 9th March 1895 page 5]
