The temporary church of SS. Michael and All Angels, Hull, was opened on the Festival of the Holy Name of Jesus (August 7), most fitting day for such a work. The building is of wood, 66 feet long by 25 feet broad. The chancel and sanctuary together 20 feet. The body of the church is fitted with chairs, to each of which there is a kneeling hassock.

The altar is 9 feet long, and is from the design of R J Withers, Esq., of London, the architect of the proposed permanent church. The frontal and super-frontal are also from his designs.  [Church Times 25 August 1866 page 274]
