Free Public Library, Sale
A public free library and reading-room, which has been built by subscription, was formally opened and handed over to the local authority at Sale, near Manchester, on Saturday. The building, which contains two floors, has on the basement an excellently fitted library and reading-room, while above is a large room which will for a time be available for meetings. The walling is of Northwich bricks with Rainhill stone dressings, and half- timber work of pitch-pine, filled in with cement. The internal fittings are of pitch-pine. We illustrated the library, which has been built from plans by R. J. McBeath, in our issue of September 5, 1890. [Building News 13 March 1891 page 384]
