Grey Gables, 186 Chorley New Road, Bolton

Grey Gables was built by Jonathan Simpson, for himself but said to have been designed with input from Charles Holden.  Simple massing around gable and chimneys, with timber framed porch and two storey all with gallery. Other rooms in different styles according to use, a characteristic of Lever's own taste. The house was presented to Bolton School by Second Viscount on death of Johnathan Simpson but later sold.
