Preston (Guttridge Memorial Church) - This church, standing in a populous and growing neighbourhood, was founded some twenty-five years ago as a branch of the Orchard Church, and was named after the Rev. John Guttridge, a former U.M.F.C. minister. For some years the work has suffered from lack. of adequate premises; the existing school building having to do duty for all occasions. Land has been acquired adjoining the school, and work has just begun in the erection of the new church. The stone-laying ceremony (as announced in our advertisement columns) takes place on Saturday next, November 22nd. … [United Methodist 20 November 1930 page 574-575]
