WARRINGTON - Special services were held on Sunday at St. Mary's (R.C.) Church, Buttermarket Street, when the new high altar and reredos were consecrated. The design is by Messrs. Pugin and Pugin, of London. Mr. Bolton, of Cheltenham, executed the carving. The total cost of the work, including the furniture and the new window on the south side, will be £1,000. The work has been carried out under the superintendence of the Rev. Father Sumner. The east window represents the Scripture prototypes of Our Lady, including figures of Eve, Rachel, Ruth, Esther, and Judith, and also St. Anselm, St. Bernard, St. Dominic, and St. Alphonsus Liguori; and below these are shown the Annunciation and the Visitation.
