Imperial Hotel Promenade and Dickson Road North Shore Blackpool

HOTEL ALTERATIONS, BLACKPOOL - Application Granted with Cafe Proviso - Blackpool licensing magistrates, at their resumed hearing today granted an application by William Marshall Fraser, the manager, on behalf of the Imperial Hydro Hotel, North Shore, for permission to make extensive alterations to that establishment. The magistrates, however, made a condition that no intoxicants would be supplied in a cafe to be built on the first floor of the extension scheme. Mr. Glyn Blackledge, who made the application, stated that the extension would take place on the north-east corner of the hotel, on existing land attached to the premises. There would be a saloon lounge smoke room and hotel digest on the ground floor, a cafe on the first floor, and additional bedroom accommodation above. Arrangements would be made to provide further bedrooms if required. Mr. Halstead Best, a Blackpool architect and surveyor, gave evidence of the proposed scheme, stating that the new building would provide an extra wing to the hotel, and there would be two floors of bedrooms.
