NEW INDEPENDENT SCHOOLS AT OSSETT-Yesterday, Mr. Joseph Ellis, of Ossett, laid the foundation stone of a building intended to be used as schools, etc., in connection with the Ossett Green Independent Chapel.  …. The new building will face the Horbury road, in a line with the chapel, and be of the same height. The front, sides, and back of the new school will be faced with stone, and the style of architecture is Italian. The building has been designed to fulfil a two-fold purpose, and will be adapted for public assemblies as well as school accommodation. There will be a large hall capable of seating 700 adults, an infant school, a reading room, a lecture room, besides various class rooms. The architects are Messrs. Paull and Ayliffe, of Manchester and Bradford. The cost, exclusive of lighting, warming, &c., and the price of the land, will be about £1,800.
