Originally built for George Schofield in 1883 and subsequently sold to the Ivy Spinning Co Ltd. The mill was extended in 1890-1, 1893, 1896 and at various times between 1905 and 1920. Production ceased on 20 December 1934. During World War Two it was used by A V Roe as a munitions factory, later occupied as a mail order warehouse
