A branch mission church is being constructed in connection with St Philip’s Bradford Road, in Hooton Street. It will have accommodation for 300 and, should occasion require it, may be extended to seat another 100 persons. The architects are Messrs Potts Son and Hennings of Manchester and the contractors Messrs Hollingworth and Sons, Patricroft. [Builder 6 March 1909 page 288]

The foundation stone of the new branch mission church in connection with St Philip’s Bradford Road, Manchester, of which the Rev Samuel Taylor is rector, will be laid tomorrow (Thursday) by Mrs Joynson-Hicks, who will be accompanied by Mr Joynson-Hicks, MP. The building, which will be known as the Joynson Memorial, is in Hooton Street, Bradford Road, and is built on a site given by the Dean and Chapter. The main building will accommodate 300 persons, but it can be extended to provide for an additional 100 people. Towards the cost of the new church the late Mr R H joynson contributed £800, and the Bishop of Manchester’s Commission £700. The church has been built from the designs of Messrs Potts Son and Hennings, architects, Deansgate, by Messrs Hollinworth and Sons, Patricroft. [Manchester Guardian 10 February 1909 page 10].
