Co-educational Grammar School built in 1907 to designs by Walker, Carter and Walker of Windermere. The school opened in 1908 when Kelsick Grammar School moved from an existing site. The adjacent school house was added in 1929 in a similar style. The school closed in 1965 and the buildings were brought by Charlotte Mason College in 1966, it then became part of St Martin's College and is now part of the University of Cumbria. A number of internal refurbishments have taken place, most noteably in 2005-6. The school is symmetrical in plan, with a rectangular central block of classrooms with former full height hall to the rear and girls and boys entrances and facilities to either end. It is constructed of Lakeland green slate with freestone dressings under pitched and hipped slate roofs. The main elevation has two storeys and four bays; each bay has a half dormer and a triplet of sash windows to each floor. There are multiple tall chimneys, one of which is round, and three copper ventilators. The adjacent school house conforms to the materials and style of the main school with double height canted bay windows to the south gable overlooking Lake Windermere.
