Library, Picton Road, Wavertree, Liverpool,

Red brick and much stone.  One of three public buildings built by Liverpool Corporation with Shelmerdine façades after Wavertree was absorbed into the city.  This one is symmetrical, the details C17 to C18 as usual.  Gabled wings with big windows, tripartite with a tripartite lunette above.  The lower part has alternately blocked Ionic pilasters for mullions.  Single storey porch with segmental hood in the centre, with a balustrade above it and a recessed semi-circular gable behind that.  A very enjoyable little building.
