Lostock Open Air School, Tempest Road, Lostock Junction, Bolton

Lostock Industrial School was originally built in 1870 and closed in 1924. It then passed under the control of the local education authority in 1925.  This open-air school classrooms were built on the opposite side of Tempest Road. The school had facilities including an indoor swimming pool and dormitories for up to 100 pupils. In 1986 it changed to teaching children with special needs and closed in 1995.

BOLTON - The E.C. have accepted the tender of John Dickinson and Co. (Bolton), Ltd., for the erection of the Lostock open air school in accordance with plans prepared by Mr. Wynne Thomas, architect. [Architect and Building News 8 July 1927 page 80]
