CHEADLE PARISH CHURCH - A handsome lych gate at the eastern entrance of the churchyard is at present in course of erection from designs by Messrs Medland and Henry Taylor, architects, of Manchester. It bears the following inscription: “Erected to the memory of the late Lieutenant Colonel J H Deakin, by his employees and friends. AD 1883” [Manchester Guardian 20 March 1883 page 5]
