An astylar building (now demolished) whose erection, according to Atkinson's obituary notice in the Builder, “was as important in the architectural history of Manchester, as that of the Travellers' Club was in London.”

TO BUILDERS, BRICKLAYERS, JOINERS, CARPENTERS, AND OTHERS - THE DIRECTORS of the MANCHESTER AND LIVERPOOL DISTRICT BANKING COMPANY having determined to build a BANK, in Spring Gardens, Manchester. Builders or other Tradesmen wishing to contract for any part or parts of the works, may see the Drawings and obtain a copy of the Specifications and form of Contract, at the Architect's office, 25, Piccadilly, Manchester, on or alter the 3rd. day of February.  Tenders are to be sent (sealed, addressed to the Building Committee, at the District Bank,") on or before the 22nd. day of February next. Any further information may be obtained by addressing a letter (post paid) to Mr. T W. ATKINSON, Architect, 8, Upper Stamford Street, Blackfriars, London, 31st. January, 1834. TO BUILDERS AND OTHERS – The Directors of the Manchester and Liverpool District Bank intend to erect a Bank and other buildings in Spring Gardens, Manchester. The drawings specifications and contracts will lie for inspection at Mr T W Atkinson’s office, 25 Piccadilly, from Monday the 7th until Monday the 28th instant; on which day the tenders must be delivered at the District Bank, Norfolk Street, sealed and addressed to the Directors. 4 April 1834. Manchester and Liverpool District Banking Company – The ceremony of laying the foundation stone of the building intended to be erected in Spring Gardens as the head office for this establishment was fixed for Thursday. About noon a numerous body of the directors, with Mr T W Atkinson, the architect, of London*, repaired from the present bank to the site, where the first stone was laid by Robert Barbour Esq Senior Director of the Manchester Board. TO CARPENTERS AND JOINERS —AII Persons desirous of Tendering for the FINISHINGS of the BANK, MANAGER'S HOUSE and WAREHOUSES, now erecting In Spring Gardens. for the Manchester and Liverpool District Banking Company may see the drawings, specifications and contracts at the office of Mr T W Atkinson, architect. 25, Piccadilly, from Monday the 15th, until Monday the 20th of September instant, on which day the tenders must be delivered at the District Bank.
