A prominent and iconic public house on the seafront on a roughly triangular site at the junction of the Promenade and Lytham Road (also known as Manchester Square). Replacing a Victorian building, it was rebuilt in 1935-1936 in a modernist style to the design of J. C. Derham and opened at  Whitsun 1936. It was altered again in the 1960s and totally rebuilt in 1996.

BLACKPOOL LICENSING SESSIONS - The magistrates approved an application to rebuild the Manchester Hotel, Manchester Square. The scheme, to cost £30,000, would employ 150 local men and take about six months to build, it was stated. Work would begin in the autumn. [Lytham Times 8 March 1935 page 6]
