Memorial stones of a new Wesleyan chapel were laid at the South Cliff, Scarborough, on the 2nd inst. The chapel is designed in the Decorated style, and will consist of nave, transepts, and chancel, which, together with an end gallery over the vestibule, will accommodate 550 persons. A lecture-room and two classrooms are arranged at the back of the chancel, the organ chamber opening into the nave and chancel with wide arches. A spire will occupy the south-west angle of site. The architects are Messrs. Morley and Woodhouse, of Bradford and Bolton. The total cost, including spire, will be about £5,000.  [Building News 10 April 1885 page 567]
