Burgess Creamery was established in 1840 and an amalgamation of Burgess’s and the Manchester Dairy Company in 1928 led to the creation of Allied Daries. Burgess existing premises in Garside Street were replaced by a new building three storey high of steel framed construction bounded by Cumberland Street, Gartside Street, and Hardman Street. This had been demolished by 1971.
