About one and a half miles from the village of Ashton-on-Mersey is a new model farm in the course of construction erected and upon the estate of Samuel Brookes Esq. The farm buildings are upon the most improved principles, occupying a space of two acres of ground, and containing a handsome dwelling house in the centre, with a cottage on each side; at the back are a large barn, store rooms, stabling, feeding stalls for oxen, and piggeries; the farm is to consist Of 200 acres of land, the whole of which is drained by a sewer running underneath the road, which has been sunk several feet to afford a fall for drainage; the boundary is planted with larch fir, giving the approach a very park-like appearance. Messrs. Starkey and Cuffley, of Manchester, are the architects.
