INCE CEMETERY- Report by the Ince Burial Board. Site of selected – a little over three acres forming part of the Ince Hall estate. Two thirds of the burial ground was to be appropriated to Protestants, the remaining third divided equally between Roman Catholics and Dissenters, based on religious belief of the population of the township.

It is intended to erect a protestant chapel, to accommodate 60 persons, and another chapel for Roman Catholics and Dissenters, which will be divided by an interior wall, each division to accommodate 30 persons. Mr Waterhouse of Manchester has been selected as the architect, and the tender of Mr James Fairclough of Wigan, for the erection of the chapels, lodge, and entrance gates has been accepted. The estimate of expenses in the purchase of land, fencing and  laying out the same , and erecting the necessary chapels and other buildings was: Episcopal Chapel, £385-15s; Roman Catholic and Dissenters’ Chapel, £454; lodge including board room and entrance gates, £447-9s; boundary walls and fencing, £400; land and expense of conveyancing, £1,150; laying out the ground and drainage, £300; architect, clerk of the works, etc, £250; clerk’s salary, stationery, and other incidental expenses, £125; painting and furnishing chapels, lodge, and board room, £180; contingencies £307- 16 s.
