Motor Car Works (Panhard & Levassor), Uxbridge Road and Worple Way, Acton, W
LONDON W – Revised tenders for the proposed motor-car works (Messrs. Panhard & Levassor), showrooms and offices, etc., Uxbridge Road and Worple Way, Acton, W. , for Mr. Harvey du Cros, M.P. Mr. Harry Percival, architect, 12, Craven Street, W.C. Quantities by Mr. F. K. Bruin, 12, Craven Street, W.C. [ The Builders Journal 4 July 1906 page xx -tenders]
The only known non-theatrical work by Harry Percival. Built of London yellow brick with red brick and terracotta detailing. It was later absorbed by the Sunbeam-Talbot-Darracq company, which itself became a part of the Rootes Group just before WW2. The works now houses a variety of small business. On the outside of the building is a badly worn foundation stone that appears to read “This stone was laid on June 19th 1909 by Harvey du Cros esq. J.P. Founder of the pneumatic tyre industry.” The architect’s name is all but indecipherable but does not appear to be that of Harry Percival. Given the three-year delay between receipt of tenders and the laying of the stone, a revised scheme may have been progressed.
