Offices, Groves & Whitnall Ltd, Regent Road, Salford

Henry Lord failed to obtain the bye-law approval  for the offices of Groves and Whitnall before commencing work. When the plans were submitted, the Borough Engineer recommended disapproval given the overhang of an oriel window over the highway and further that the bye-laws be amended to limit such projection.

At a meeting of the Improvements Committee on 30 March the Borough Engineer had that the plans for the works to Groves and Whitnall offices be disapproved and the Salford by-laws be amended to limit the projection of oriel windows over the footway. At a meeting on 20 April, Mr Henry Lord attended the Committee with reference to the oriel windows for the offices and works of Groves and Whitnall Limited in Regent-road and agreed to pay the sum of £45 as compensation and acknowledgement for the privilege and the Chairman was authorised to sign the plans.
