The arcade joins St Ann’s Passage with King Street. Between 1806 and 1809 the original building served as a temporary Exchange between the demolition of the first exchange and the building of the second exchange. About 1820 the Manchester Circulating Library began issuing books from the building. It was rebuilt in 1896 to the designs of Royle & Bennett.
