STANDISH - Mr. E. Bentham has acquired a site in High Street for a new cinema. Tho plans are by Mr. W. Thornley, L.R.I.B.A., 46 Wallgate, Wigan. The contract has been placed with Mr. P. Moss, builder, Wigan Road. Standish. [Architect and Building News 2 September 1927 page 400]

One screen 500 seats. Opened in 1927 and closed in mid-1957. After lying empty for a few years it was converted into a plumbers’ merchants (Laces) but was destroyed by fire in December 1963. The site was subsequently redeveloped in the late 1960s.
