THE JUNIOR SCHOOL. The number of young pupils is increasing, and it had been decided to erect a Junior School, to be opened in May, 1911, to serve as a "Home" for about twelve girls under fourteen years of age, who would sleep and have meals in the Junior School and come to the College for lessons. The foundation stone of the new building is about to be laid by Mr. Lloyd George, who had kindly promised to press a button which would give a signal and another button which would place the stone in position. DESCRIPTION OF THE JUNIOR SCHOOL. This fine building is planned on the new site in Llanerch-road, lately purchased by the College Authorities. Externally the building will be finished in pressed brick with hard York stone dressings, and with the fine bay windows and octagonal staircase tower should form a noteworthy object in the landscape. Large windows are arranged in all the rooms, taken up as high as possible so as to admit of ample light and ventilation. The whole of the ground floor is formed with concrete finished with a patent composition floor which will be fireproof, warm and noiseless. A large recreation and dining room, with study, very complete lavatory accommodation, with a good kitchen and the usual offices, completes the ground floor plan, and it is considered that the kitchen may possibly be used for cooking lectures. On the first floor two dormitories are arranged with suitable bathroom and lavatory accommodation. In all cases the bathrooms and lavatories have concrete floors with patent composition flooring. On the top floor further dormitory accommodation is provided, with the necessary bathrooms, etc. The possibility of providing a sprinkler installation all over the new building is in contemplation, which would mean that the whole block would be practically secure from fire, as in the case of an outbreak it would be at once checked by the automatic opening of the sprinklers. There is no doubt the whole building, when complete, should very considerably augment the accommodation of the College and provide it with a very satisfactory Preparatory School for the junior girls. The architects are Messrs. J. M. Porter and Elcock, of the Estate Office, Colwyn Bay, who have carried out all the previous work at the College, and the contractor is Mr. Oswald Jones, of York-road, Colwyn Bay.  [North Wales Weekly News 23 September 1910 page 6]
