'Pensychnant', Sychnant Pass, Dwygyfylchi, Conwy, Gwynedd.
The wild moorlands on the boundaries of the Conway and Penmaenmawr Districts, just to the eastward of the Sychnant Pass, contained a small homestead known as Pensychnant Farm. This was purchased together with 160 surrounding acres, by Abraham Henthorn Stott (I) about 1877 as his country estate. He immediately added a much larger residence to the old farmhouse. This was the centre of what became an important Lancashire, particularly Oldham, colony, embracing the country residences of many important and influential magnates.
