The new Pike Mill in High-street, Bolton, is rapidly approaching completion for Messrs. Crosses, Winkworth, and Co. It is of brick with stone dressings, is of fireproof construction, and is five stories in height. It has a frontage of 23 windows, and a depth of 12 windows, and with the adjacent buildings occupies a site of 12 acres, being one of the largest mills in the district. The ground floor is arranged as a cardroom, and the four floors above as spinning-rooms. The engines are of 1,200 h.p., and will drive over 80,000 cotton spindles. Messrs. Woodhouse and Morley, St. George's-road, Bolton, are the architects; and the builders are Messrs J. H. and G. Marsden, Bridge-street, Bolton. [Building News 29 August 1884 page xviii]
