NEW DISTRICT POLICE STATIONS IN SALFORD – The Corporation of Salford are about to have three new police stations erected in the outlying districts of their borough. One of them will be at Irlams-o’-th’-Height, and a second will be situated near the Cemetery at Weaste. These two are almost identical in construction, and we believe the contracts for both of them have already been let. Each is to have dwelling accommodation for a married sergeant and for five single constables, the rooms lofty and well-ventilated; in addition to which there is to be a commodious receiving office, for taking charges or like business; a dayroom for officers not on duty; and three cells warmed with hot water apparatus. (Regent Road police station - see below). The plans for all the three stations were prepared by Messrs Royle and Bennett, architects, Princess Street. [Manchester Guardian 16 May 1870 page 3]
