FOUNDATION STONE OF NEW CHAPEL AT MOSS SIDE - On Saturday afternoon the foundation stone of a Primitive Methodist Chapel was laid by Mr Robert Whitworth in Great Western Street near Alexandra Park. ... The chapel is to be in the early English Gothic style of architecture and is designed to accommodate 750 persons. Its estimated cost, including the chapel keeper’s house and the boundary walls, is £6,000, towards which about £1,000 has been subscribed. It is also intended to erect a school at an additional cost of £2,000.  The architect is Mr Arthur Morry. [Manchester Guardian 16 April 1877 page 5]
