Prince’s Bridge Manchester
At a meeting of the Manchester City Council on 6 April, the Improvement Committee reported that they had complied with a request from Salford Improvements Committee, by directing Mr Lynde, the city surveyor, to prepare plans and sections of the intended bridge over the Irwell from Water Street, Manchester, in line with Hampson Street, Salford in order that the Salford surveyor may proceed with the plans for the approaches on the Salford side. Three fifth of the expense of the bridge would be paid by the Manchester Corporation and two fifths by Salford. The cost of the land for the approaches on the Manchester side would not be more than £1,000, while a much larger sum would be required for the approaches on the Salford side.
