New build

Situated on Dale Street between Cheapside and Hockenhall Alley. Although ascribed to Henry Shelmerdine alone, the design may well pre-date the dissolution of his partnership with Edward Shelmerdine.

We illustrate this week a good example of street architecture from Liverpool by Mr Henry Shelmerdine, of that city. The premises consist of a leather works, shops on ground floor and offices on first and second floors and are now being erected in Dale Street for J H Angus Esq. The principal materials used in the construction are polished red and grey granite from the works of Messrs Shearer, Field & Co. Dalbeatie; Cefn stone, and terra cotta supplied by J C Edwards & Co and red tiled roofs. The contract for the work was taken by Mr Thomas Urmston. [British Architect 18 August 1882 page 406]
