The chancel of this church was rebuilt 1854-1855.Documents held at Cumbria Record Office, Kendal incude plans of chancel alterations, signed by Jos. S Crowther, architect, Manchester, and dated April 1854. There appears to have been a set of perhaps 12 plans; those surviving are numbered 3, 5, 6, 8, 9 and 12 with one not numbered].
