Proposed Industrial Town/ Garden Village Lowton and Kenyon Junction
The Kenyon and Lowton Estate belonging to the Earl of Wilton were advertised for sale by auction in October 1918. In the event the estate was sold privately. The name of the buyer and amount paid was not disclosed. The estates comprised twenty farms, with homesteads, small holdings and accommodation land, also village properties and building sites, the whole embracing an area of about 1,360 acres. Following its purchase the estate was marketed as the proposed site of a new town with housing on garden village principals. However little or nothing of the scheme came to fruition.
