PROPOSED HOSPITAL FOR ECCLES AND DISTRICT – At a meeting of the Barton Hospital Committee the clerk was authorised to request Mr Booth, architect, of Manchester to prepare plans for a hospital of twenty beds, and the necessary offices, the payment to him for his services to be 5 per cent. The site selected for the hospital is on land adjoining the new cemetery. [Manchester Guardian 20 June 1878 page 8]

ECCLES AND BARTON LOCAL BOARD – The clerk reported that he had written to the Local Government board, informing them that the Local Board had agreed to join the Rural Sanitary Authority in the erection of a hospital for cases of infectious diseases, and that plans were being prepared by Mr Booth, architect. [Manchester Guardian 7 August 1878 page 6]

ECCLES - At a joint meeting of members of the Barton Local Board and Rural Sanitary Authority, held recently, the clerk reported that the Local Government Board had approved of the plans, without alteration, prepared by Mr. L. Booth, architect, Manchester, for a hospital for infectious diseases at Peel-green, for Eccles and district, at a cost of £3,000. The hospital will be erected conjointly by the above urban and rural sanitary authorities; it will consist of two wings and an administrative block, and will find accommodation for twenty beds when complete; but for the present it is only proposed to erect one wing and the necessary offices.
