Report of an application for a licence for a new residential hotel to be built near Stamford Park, illustrating the difficulties faced in providing new licenced premises. Garside Limited were prepared to give up the licences of two public houses in order to obtain the licence for the new building but faced opposition from the temperance party and the owners of two local licensed houses. The magistrates refused the application.
