Public Elementary School, Clarendon Road, Eccles
The Board of Education were minded to allow the building of the school. However they were prepared to hold a public enquiry if the objectors in Ellesmere Park were prepared to under-right the expense. [Manchester City News 20 January 1906 Page 5 Column 3]
A new school has been opened in Clarendon Road Eccles by the Eccles Education Committee. It is a structure of red brick and grey terra cotta and has ben built by Messrs Ramsbottom of Pendleton from plans by Mr H Lord, architect of Manchester. Accommodation is provided for 800 scholars on two floors with separate entrances for boys, girls, and infants. The mixed department will consist of 520 scholars of whom 400 will be accommodated on the upper floor. The remaining 120 will be taught on the ground floor where the infants department will be accommodated. The estimated cost of the building and furniture is £11,500. [Builder 30 January 1909 Page 127]
